New ZYYX pro Videos

Today we are releasing a short video series on how to get started with the ZYYX pro and using some of the more technical features. Kadin walks through how to set up your first print, how to swap Swift Tools as well as swapping to the soft spring.

The Swift Tool system is a great feature for anyone wanting to maximize the speed and precision possibilities with your printer. Also, if one wants to print with carbon fiber a hardened nozzle is required. All the different nozzle-types are included with the purchase of a ZYYX pro.

When printing with in flexible materials using any ZYYX it is required to swap the print head spring. It is a simple action that will give your printer a bigger range of available materials.

ZYYX 3D Printer showcasing Benchtop Metal 3D Printing at TCT Asia 2018

TCTmatsWeb

What a start to TCT Asia 2018!

We’re attending TCT Asia 2018 together with Shenzhen Esun Industrial Co, in their booth. At the booth we’re showing professional 3D printing materials for the the ZYYX3D Printer lineup and advanced 3D printing filaments for the ZYYX pro.   Although what’s stealing the show is our teasing of our newest developments;

Metal 3D Printing

ZYYXfb_img

Our benchtop metal 3D printing will disrupt the 3D Printing market once again with metal 3D Printing at a fraction of the cost.   At TCT Asia we are showcasing some pure metal prints in steel, copper and bronze. These are early tests done back home in Gothenburg with our new technology that will enable a complete metal 3D printing and sintering solution for under 10’000 EURO.   More information about our metal 3d printing technology will be released soon…

TCT booth

The eSUN booth is packed with interesting 3D Printing filament and ZYYX 3D Printed prototypes made with both the new metal 3D printing technology.   Shenzhen Esun Industrial Co., Ltd. and ZYYX 3D Printer partnership focus on strategic sales and advanced material development for engineering materials. With the advantages of stable quality, rich varieties, cost-effective and wide application, eSUN is now one of the leading 3D printing filament brands in the world.

Dupont

We are also showing our ZYYX pro professional OfficeSafe 3D Printer at DuPont booth, highlighting the exciting professional 3D Printing materials from DuPont. Read more about the interesting materials from DuPont for the ZYYX pro via this link.

Prototyping in the maritime industry – Båtmässan 2018

An opportunity for prototyping

The last days we’ve been roaming the floors at Båtmässan in Göteborg to get closer to our customers and the people who needs strong parts for an ever so changing industry. It’s fantastic to see all the clever products being designed and showed off on these trade shows, but it’s clear there are so much more potential and products out there and our role is to enable the engineers to create them.

When talking to some of the engineers at Båtmässan it’s clear that the R&D and rapid prototyping with 3D printers is still not used as much as it could. We find it’s often considered to be too expensive to implement for high-end engineering prototypes and the machines invested in are used mostly to print parts only suitable for visual inspection.

Taking a closer look on the products displayed on Båtmässan i’ts very clear that each of these manufacturers have a huge potential of benefiting from our products. With strong engineering materials in the 3D printing process, you would reduce costs in many stages of the product development process.

Not only are the more obvious design stages a time and cost saver, but even after that stage, when manufacturing, assembling 3D Printing is a huge cost-saver. Being able to iterate and change jigs and fixtures for a fraction of the cost and in days instead of weeks will speed up production, lower costs and create a better working environment.

Our professional 3D Printers use engineering materials that can withstand the abuse of assembly lines and functional testing and if you’re curious about the materials supported, we have great samples to send to you.

To leave you with a bit of inspiration. Have a look at the image below and count the potential parts that all have to be manufactured and how the process of develop the parts was done. Try to imagine it with and without a 3D printer.

If you’re in the boat and marine industry and would like to use 3D printing in some stage of your development process please get in touch with us at ZYYX 3D printers for more information on the benefits of our 3D printers. We’ll provide you with a free sample of our engineering material to prove how strong our poly-amide (nylon) materials from ZYYX pro really are.

pro Carbon 3D Printed Skateboard Trucks

Our good friend Daniel Norée has been working on a new project this fall – 3D printed skateboard trucks. These are normally made in metal to withstand the high stress of skateboarding, but Daniel has taken advantage of the new ZYYX pro and high tensile strength of ZYYX proCarbon filament to successfully cruise around town on his new trucks. To push the material to its limit, Daniel even subjected the trucks to two tons of pressure in a hydraulic press – without reaching failure.

This project is a perfect example of pushing the boundaries of 3D printing as we know it. Using the right type of printer with the right type of material, it is possible to create those coveted high strength 3D printed products and prototypes – whether they be skateboard trucks, industrial brackets, or anything in between.

Below you can find all of the videos made by Daniel concerning the project. If you like Daniel’s work, you can support him via his Patreon, here.

Part 1

Daniel’s first time showing off the 3D printed skateboard trucks, sharing some background and thoughts around the project. A successful test of the truck’s durability!

Part 2

The second part of the skateboard truck, the bushings, allow the board to turn. Daniel exchanges his original bushings with ones 3D printed in flexible filament. Yet another successful test skating down the local hill.

Part 3

The skateboard trucks work well skating around town, but what can they really handle? Daniel puts a total of 290kg on the board trying to break the 3D printed parts, but to no avail.

Part 4

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. This time by popular demand, Daniel heads to the local metal shop to test the board in a hydraulic press. A total of 2 tons (2000kg) is put on just one set of wheels, and the 3D printed parts still do not break! But they have definitely seen better days…

Part 5

After the last encounter, Daniel takes a look at the effects on the trucks after the hydraulic press.

ZYYX User of the week – Everdrone

Everdrone’s mission is to create a safer airspace through development of software for autonomous drones. This Swedish tech company run their business from an old hangar at Säve airport just outside of Gothenburg. At the facility there are indoor and outdoor areas for test flying and development.

The company focus on usage areas where drones can have a positive impact on the society, such as supporting the health care sector or performing humanitarian missions in developing countries. The team is just home from a trip to Malawi in Africa where their system was demonstrated and tested together with representatives for Unicef.

The company uses their ZYYX+ printer on a daily basis to produce all sorts of fitting brackets and prototypes in order to equip their drones with sensors, batteriers and other custom electronics. 3D Printing is therefore a crucial part of the day to day development process.
